Ray Seggern

Ray Seggern is a marketing and advertising lecturer who routinely speaks at conventions and seminars. He is also a former radio personality who has worked at radio stations in Texas and Oklahoma.

Seggern began his career in radio in 1986 at Austin NPR affiliate KUT-FM 90.5, based on the University of Texas. While a student at UT, he also helped start the student-run KTSB, serving as the stations business manager in 1989-90.

In 1991, Seggern was one of the original deejays at Austin's first alternative rock station, KNNC. He was best known there as the host of the local music program, Homegroan. He also produced three local music compilations under the same moniker.

In 1996, Seggern left Austin to take a marketing/promotions director job at KMYZ in Tulsa. Later seguing to assistant program director/music director, he was nominated for a national award in the Billboard Monitor 2001 Radio Awards. Also that year, he was invited to speak at the R&R Radio Convention in Los Angeles, appearing on an alternative radio panel with other programmers and musician Dave Navarro.

In 2006, he launched the "Chillville" show, which still airs on alternative rock radio station 101-X (KROX-FM). In his second year hosting the show, it was voted "Best Radio Music Program" by readers of the Austin Chronicle. He left 101x after 8 years to launch radio station 105.3 The Fringe as its Program Director and afternoon drive personality. In January 2015, Seggern (by then station manager) exited the station, citing personal reasons.

In 2008, the National Association of Broadcasters selected him a spokesperson for its Radio Heard Here campaign.

Seggern was invited to speak at TEDxSanAntonio in 2012. The title of his presentation was "Beyond Placebo: How Expectation Guides Experience in Medicine, Business and LIfe." He was later asked to reprise the talk at the 2015 national convention of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services.

He is a partner in the global marketing Wizard Of Ads marketing consortium founded by best selling author Roy H. Williams.
