Ray Cameron (comedian)

Ray Cameron (born Thomas Cameron McIntyre; 19 April 1936 – 27 December 1993) was a Canadian comedian, and the father of British comedian Michael McIntyre.

Cameron was one of the writers of Kenny Everett's television shows, including The Kenny Everett Video Show, and co-creator of comedy panel game show Jokers Wild (on which he sometimes appeared as a guest comedian). He was also director and co-writer of Everett's only feature film, Bloodbath at the House of Death.

His son, Michael, grew up believing that Cameron had died of a heart attack. In 2010, however, McIntyre learned that his father had in fact died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, in his Hollywood apartment block, at the age of 55. His step-mother, Holly, had been forced to reveal the secret when McIntyre was planning to take part in the BBC genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are?.

In 2014, McIntyre revealed that he was "heart broken" that the truth about his father's death was being made public by his step-mother.
