Burton Rashad "Ringo" Smith (born 1972 in North Carolina) is an American DJ, Hip-Hop & R&B producer. His ventures in music began around the age of 19, when he sold beats to Main Source, Eric B and Rakim and A Tribe Called Quest. He proceeded further into the music business by working over at Uptown Records when Mary J Blige was signed to that label. In the following years, became an original member of Puffy Combs's Bad Boy Records's in-house production team, "The Hitmen" and has quietly produced on many Bad Boy-released projects. He has also made many notable production contributions out the Bad Boy camp for LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Rampage, Destiny’s Child, Lauryn Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, and 50 Cent.
