It was created as Radio Televisión Nacional de Colombia (RTVC, National Radio and Television of Colombia) by the Decree 3525 on October 28, 2004, after dissolving Inravisión and the public television production company Audiovisuales, during the administration of President Álvaro Uribe Vélez.
