Queen consort of the Belgians


A consort of Belgium is a person married to a Belgian monarch during their reign. All so far have been women married to the Belgian monarchs during their reigns. As the only spouse of a recognized popular monarch, all female spouses of the monarchs of Belgium were titled Queen of the Belgians and styled Majesty, with the exception of Leopold III of Belgium's second wife Lilian Baels, who was styled Princess of Belgium, Princess of Réthy. Belgian Queen-Consorts have retained the title of Queen after their husbands' death or abdication but not with the predicate Queen of the Belgians, instead they are styled Queen of Belgium, with as a result that sometimes there were two or three Queens simultaneously. Most recently, from King Philippe's succession in July 2013, until Dowager queen Fabiola's death in December 2014, there were three living Belgian queens. All monarchs so far have been male, so there are only queen consorts. The following are the wives of the monarchs of Belgium since 1831:
