"Put Your Records On" is a song by English soul singer–songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae from her debut album, Corinne Bailey Rae (2006). Written by Rae, John Beck, and Steve Chrisanthou, it was released as the album's second single in February and early March 2006 throughout Europe and as the lead single in North America.
"Put Your Records On" was a commercial success, topping the UK R&B Chart and charting at number two on UK Singles Chart. The song has since become a major worldwide hit, reaching the Top 70 in the United States. It was nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2007 Grammy Awards.
Produced by Steve Chrisanthou, the song debuted into the UK Singles Chart at number two and was kept off the top spot by Madonna's "Sorry". The song's opening line, "Three little birds sat on my window/And they tell me I don't need to worry", is a reference to Bob Marley & The Wailers' 1977 hit song "Three Little Birds".
"Put Your Records On" enjoyed a wealth of critical and commercial acclaim which helped the album achieve number one in its first week of release. The track topped the UK Official Download Chart and the UK R&B Singles Chart; it was also a hit on radio, reaching at least number two on the UK Airplay Chart. However, the single did not fare as well in the United States, peaking at number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100. As of March 1, 2006, Rae became only the second female solo act to top the UK Official Download Chart in history. It remains Bailey Rae's biggest hit single in the UK to date, and the only one to reach the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart.
