Prospect is a borough in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2010 census, the borough had a population of 1,169.
Prospect is located in western Butler County at 40°54′15″N 80°2′47″W / 40.90417°N 80.04639°W (40.904113, -80.046430).U.S. Route 422, a limited-access highway, cuts across the northeast corner of the borough, leading east 9 miles (14 km) to Butler, the county seat, and west 18 miles (29 km) to New Castle. Moraine State Park, a recreation destination surrounding Lake Arthur, is next to the northwest border of the borough.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Prospect has a total area of 4.1 square miles (10.6 km2), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,234 people, 501 households, and 359 families residing in the borough. The population density was 258.4 people per square mile (99.7/km²). There were 518 housing units at an average density of 108.5 per square mile (41.8/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 99.35% White, 0.08% Native American, 0.08% Pacific Islander, and 0.49% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.41% of the population.
