Professor of Engineering, Cambridge University

The Regius Professorship of Engineering is a professorship at the University of Cambridge. Founded in 1875 as a chair in "Mechanism and Applied Mechanics", it was renamed to "Mechanical Sciences" in 1934, and to "Engineering" in 1966. The chair was bestowed the honorary title of Regius Professorship by Queen Elizabeth II in 2011, to mark the end of the Duke of Edinburgh's 34-year tenure as Chancellor of the University.
