"Private Idaho" reached number 11 in Australia. It was the 83rd biggest Australian hit of 1980.
Gus Van Sant used the song title for his movie My Own Private Idaho which he heard while visiting the state in the early 1980s.
The song was featured in the Adam Sandler movie The Wedding Singer.
The song was also the rink entrance/warmup song for the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads through the 2005-2006 hockey season.
