In some taxonomic systems, Podotremata is the smaller of the two sections making up the crabs (Brachyura). Morphological and molecular analyses do not reveal a monophyletic Podotremata, and so the most recent classifications divide "Podotremata" into three sections: Dromiacea, Cyclodorippoidea and Raninoida.
