The type species is Plaxhaplous canaliculatus.Plaxhaplous canaliculatus fossils were found in Argentina, near Luján in Buenos Aires Province.Plaxhaplous fossils have also been found in Uruguay. The name Plaxhaplous means simple, flat surface.
