Pinelands High School is a public school situated in Forest Drive, Pinelands in the city of Cape Town, South Africa. It was opened in July 1952 and the founding principal was Jack Kent. The school now enrols about 950 students.
They offer a broad academic and extra-mural programme and have a rich history of success in many spheres of endeavour. They are strongly motivated and guided by their mission: We strive to be a world-class school, rooted in Africa, that facilitates a quality, all-round education in a caring and disciplined environment.
They are a diverse South African school. Their diversity extends beyond race and ethnicity to embrace culture, religion, socio-economic background, gender, and the physical and intellectual spheres.
They believe in the importance of a disciplined, well-managed and administratively efficient environment, as these elements then allow academic endeavour, creativity and thought to flourish.
In 2004, the school provided filming locations for the motion picture Ask the Dust, with the sets built to simulate Los Angeles in the 1930s.
