Petr "Blackie" Hošek is one of the founding members of Czech black metal group Root. He left Root after recording of Madness of the Graves (2003).
CALES is another, but main, Blackie's project that was founded in 1992 when Blackie (guitar) together with Evil (drums) recorded two songs "The First Key" and "The Second Key" for compilation called "Necrometal". The debut album "Bonds Of Togetherness" was released in 1997 on Tentamen Records (re-released in 2004 year by Open Media Records). Songs were sung by DeSed (Dark, Dark Gamballe). "Bonds Of Togetherness" contains interesting stuff in which a listener can find elements of progressive metal, doom and ethnic music. The album is arranged by very specific way and the result sounds originally. Lyric contains themes concerning the magic, nature spiritism and is influenced by Celtic culture and symbolism. The spark of the talented Blackie or Blackosh, one of the former members of the legendary black metal band Root, ignited other flames such as Cales, which has been burning the Earth's surface since 1992. Now is out the fourth album of Cales, eloquently entitled "Savage Blood". This time the music is much more in the vein of their second album "Pass in Time". It graders from pagan roots and is more instrumental. In spite of Blackie's musical ability (or maybe just for this reason), the music of Cales is primarily about creating atmosphere, emotion and mood.
