The supporters of Persebaya are known as Bonek (abbreviation of Bondo Nekat, literally "The Reckless People") and were known for violence and hooliganism in the past and present.
Bonek fans have a strong rivalry with Aremania, the fans of Arema Indonesia. This game is often called the East Java Derby.
