In 1970 Father Frank Toste CSC, a PVMHS faculty member, founded Stage One at PVMHS. Upon Toste's retirement, he was replaced. In January 1994 Mr. Richard Carey was hired to be the new director, while Mrs. June Kessel came on board as Stage One advisor. Since those years Carey and Kessel and all the past and present members of Stage One along with SOAP have brought Stage One back. Both Carey and Kessel continue their roles through the present. The company is highly praised and puts on three shows a year: a fall show, a Festival home show which competes at the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild's Drama Festival, and a spring musical.
