Pavuluri Mallana, who followed Adikavi Nannaya, was a mathematician of the 11th century. He was a contemporary of King Rajaraja Narendra (1022–1063 AD). He translated Ganitasara Samgraham, a mathematical treatise of Mahivaracharya, into Telugu as Sara Sangraha Ganitamu. He also wrote Bhadradri Rama Satakamu published by Vavilla Ramaswamy Sastrulu and Sons in 1916.
Rajaraja Narendra has donated Navakhandavada agraharam near Pithapuram named Mallana. His grandson, also named Mallana, was a famous writer. Pavuluru village is in Parchuru Mandal of Prakasam district.
