Parashar
Parashar is a very high Brahmin gotracaste found in northern India. This community is found mostly in bihar which had most of the brahmins and was the highest powered state. This community is also found in U.P, and Delhi.The Parashars claim ancestry from the Vedic scholar Parashara. Many people belonging to the gotra use the surname Parashar. Alternative spellings include Prashar, Parasar, Prasar, Parasara, Prasher and Parasher. Some of them also use the surnames Vashishth and Vyas.
