Papillon is an upcoming film directed by Michael Noer. It is a remake of the 1973 American crime drama prison film of the same name starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman. The original movie was written by Dalton Trumbo based on the best-selling autobiography by the French convict Henri Charrière.
The film stars Charlie Hunnam as Henri Charrière ("Papillon"), and Rami Malek as Louis Dega.
The story charts Charrière's escape attempts from the brutal penal colony on French Guiana.
Papillon was shot in different locations around Europe including Montenegro, Malta, and significantly, in Belgrade, Serbia.
