Rani Padmavati (born 280 BCE) was a wife of the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka and the mother of his heir presumptive, Kunala. There is not much written about her but it is believed that she died soon after giving birth to Kunala. She often gets confused with Ashoka's 4th wife. After her death, the young Kunala was believed to be raised by Ashoka's 1st wife, Rani Devi or by Asandhimitra, Ashoka's chief consort.
