PLA Unit 61486 is a People's Liberation Army unit that has been alleged to be a source of cyberattacks, including spear-phishing attacks, as part of a Chinese campaign to steal trade and military secrets from foreign targets.
Prior to being identified as PLA Unit 61486 by the U.S. National Security Agency and its partners, the group had been nicknamed "Putter Panda" by CrowdStrike in reference to its Chinese origins ("panda") and its penchant for targeting golf players ("putter").
