Outer product

In linear algebra, an outer product is the tensor product of two coordinate vectors, a special case of the Kronecker product of matrices. The outer product of two coordinate vectors ${\displaystyle \mathbf {u} }$ and ${\displaystyle \mathbf {v} }$, denoted ${\displaystyle \mathbf {u} \otimes \mathbf {v} }$, is a matrix ${\displaystyle \mathbf {w} }$ such that the coordinates satisfy ${\displaystyle w_{ij}=u_{i}v_{j}}$. The outer product for general tensors is also called the tensor product.
