Orleans Township is a civil township of Ionia County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,736 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.2 square miles (94 km2), of which 35.5 square miles (92 km2) is land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2) (1.99%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,736 people, 985 households, and 743 families residing in the township. The population density was 77.0 per square mile (29.7/km²). There were 1,167 housing units at an average density of 32.9 per square mile (12.7/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.32% White, 0.07% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.44% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.57% of the population.
There were 985 households out of which 38.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.7% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.5% were non-families. 18.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.11.
