Davies originally wrote the song whilst a member of another band, The Transposed Men, before The Selecter had been formed. Released in 1979 it reached 8, on the UK charts, staying there for nine weeks.
In 2008, Freaky Trigger placed the song at number 44 in its list of "The Top 100 Songs of All Time".
