Old Broadway Theatre

The Broadway Theatre, often called the Old Broadway Theatre, 326–30 Broadway and 98 Anthony (now Worth) Street in Manhattan, opened on September 27, 1847. It closed on April 2, 1859, with Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra, and was soon after replaced by a warehouse.

With a capacity of 4,500 (4,000 seats), it was the largest theater ever built in New York when it opened, although it was modeled on the much smaller Haymarket Theatre in London. In its later years it was converted into an amphitheatre and presented equestrian melodramas.
