Ocean's Eight is an upcoming 2018 American heist comedy film directed by Gary Ross from a script written by Gary Ross and co-writer Olivia Milch. It is a spin-off of the Ocean's Trilogy, and will be released on June 8, 2018 by Warner Bros. Pictures. Principal photography on the film began on October 25, 2016, in New York City.
Anna Wintour, Alexander Wang, Zac Posen, Derek Blasberg, Lauren Santo Domingo, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Katie Holmes, Olivia Munn, Hailey Baldwin and Zayn Malik will make cameo appearances in the film.
In August 2006, Steven Soderbergh – who directed the films in the Ocean's Trilogy – said that there would not be an Ocean's Fourteen, stating that George Clooney wanted "to go out strong" with the third film, Ocean's Thirteen (2007). In December 2008, Soderbergh said a fourth Ocean's film was unlikely due to the recent death of Bernie Mac, who had appeared in the earlier films. However, a new Ocean's Eleven spin-off with an all-female cast led by Sandra Bullock as the sister of George Clooney's Danny Ocean character was in development as of October 2015. It was conceived by producer Jerry Weintraub, Soderbergh and Clooney. Olivia Milch is to write the screenplay, and Gary Ross is to direct.Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling and Elizabeth Banks were later announced to star in the film, though Banks' presence later turned out to be a rumour that did not materialize.
