Nu metalcore

Nu metalcore (sometimes referred to as nu metal revival or new nu metal) is the fusion of nu metal and metalcore popularized in the 2010s, with some notable groups taking influence from R&B,pop,post-hardcore, or deathcore. The fusion is characterized by typical metalcore vocals and instrumentation often accompanied by down-tuned guitars, heavy bass, spoken word, soulful singing, funk samples, or turntablism.

Metalcore and deathcore groups such as Emmure,Of Mice & Men,Suicide Silence, and Issues, all gained moderate popularity in the 2010s for drawing influence from nu metal. Suicide Silence's 2011 album The Black Crown, which features elements of nu metal and deathcore, peaked at number 28 on the Billboard 200. In 2014, Issues' self-titled debut album peaked at number 9 on the same chart. The album features elements of metalcore, nu metal, pop and R&B. Of Mice & Men's 2014 album Restoring Force, which features elements of nu metal, peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200.Bring Me the Horizon, previously known for a much heavier style of music, released their fifth album That's the Spirit, which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200, in 2015. The album draws from multiple genres, including nu metal; however, the band completely abandoned their metalcore style. According to The Soundboard in 2016, "nu-metalcore has become [...] omnipresent."
