Northgate Arena is an arena and leisure centre complex in Chester, England. Built in 1977 on the site of the Chester Northgate railway station, Northgate Arena includes training and leisure swimming pools, a gymnasium, several sports halls and a sauna. The main sports hall is also used for toy and train, antique, postcard and computer fairs. The smaller halls are used by a range of martial art groups which practice, amongst other disciplines, Ju Jitsu, Thai Boxing, Ninjitsu and Kung Fu.
The original waterslide in the shallow end was removed in the 1980s and replaced with a flume slide in the deep end.
In the 1990s the main sports hall was used as a music venue, and hosted acts such as Mansun, Morrissey and Manic Street Preachers.
The arena was also the home venue of the Cheshire Phoenix who compete in the British Basketball League. The 1,000-seat sports hall has served as the team's home from 1993 following the club's move from the EPIC Leisure Centre in Ellesmere Port, until 2015, when they returned to Ellesmere Port at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village.
