No Blade of Grass is a 1970 British-American apocalyptic science fiction film directed by Cornel Wilde and starring Nigel Davenport, Jean Wallace, and John Hamill. It is an adaptation of John Christopher's novel The Death of Grass (1956) and follows the survivors of a plague that has hit London in the not too distant future. When London is overwhelmed by food riots caused by a global famine, a man tries to lead his family to safety in Scotland.
For a more complete summary of the plot, see The Death of Grass, a 1956 novel by Samuel Youd (pen-name John Christopher). The film is based on this novel.
The novel portrays a realistic hypothesis of how quickly civilization would break down when faced with this kind of disaster. As such, the film features multiple images of dead animals and violence, including a rape scene. There is also footage of a live birth, a woman breastfeeding, and other nudity.
