Occupation Contemporary Art Collector

Nicolai Frahm is a London-based Danish art exhibition producer, collector, advisor, and the co-founder of Frahm & Frahm and Dairy Art Centre - a non-profit contemporary visual art space in central London.

Nicolai Frahm grew up in Copenhagen in a family collecting and showing post-war European art to the public at their private art foundation. He parlayed this early exposure to art into a career, starting at Sotheby's and Christie's in London before opening his own firm, Frahm Ltd in London and Basel in 1997. Since then, he has earned a reputation as a leading collector, patron of the arts and successful art advisor. Frahm and his brother Michael Frahm later founded Frahm & Frahm - a company specialising in producing large-scale institutional exhibitions, creating collaborations with major contemporary artists, and building some of the world’s great private art collections. The Frahm brothers are known for their close relationship with artist and activist Ai Weiwei.

Frahm's own collection draws on post-war European abstract art, as well as art from the late 1970s to the present, and incorporates both emerging and established artists from America, Europe and Asia. The collection includes major pieces by internationally acclaimed artists such as Cindy Sherman, Richard Prince, Ai Weiwei,Julian Schnabel,Yoshitomo Nara,Takashi Murakami,Zeng Fanzhi and Sigmar Polke.

Frahm has provided insight into the arts market and to major events in the global arts calendar to the likes of Bloomberg,CNN,Sky News and The Financial Times.

In April 2013, together with fellow art collector Frank Cohen, Frahm opened the Dairy Art Centre - an independent, non-profit contemporary visual art centre in Bloomsbury. Open free of charge to the public, offering education and internship training programmes, Frahm continues his commitment to providing access to high quality exhibitions by internationally acclaimed artists to a wider audience. The Dairy's exhibition programme has included solo-shows by John Armleder, Julian Schnabel, and Yoshitomo Nara.
