Newquay Tretherras is a secondary school with academy status in Newquay, Cornwall, England. The current headteacher is Samantha Fairbairn. The school first opened in January 1954 by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Newquay Tretherras is one of 277 schools across England that received a slice of £2 billion from the Government’s Priority School Building Programme.The leadership team and board of directors at Tretherras have, for years, been actively looking to provide its students with modern teaching facilities that would replace its failing 1950s buildings.
Newquay Tretherras is a very popular secondary and sixth form school at the heart of the Newquay community.
Newquay Tretherras first opened in January 1954 by her majesty Queen Elizabeth ll. The first headteacher at Newquay Tretherras was Mr Graham. Tretherras school had an Extension built and it opened in September 1969. The other names of the school was Newquay Tretherras Comprehensive School. Tretherras are proud to provide an exciting comprehensive education for over 1620 students aged 11–18 [including 280 in the Sixth Form] from Newquay and the surrounding area.
Newquay Tretherras was converted to Academy status on 1 April 2011.
