On December 1, 1969, she performed the song live on the ABC-TV series The Music Scene with host David Steinberg, just before the release of the single.
The song peaked at number 42 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 30 on Cash Box. It was a bigger hit in Canada, reaching number 22 on the pop singles chart. It also reached number four on both the American and Canadian Adult Contemporary charts.
