Negligence is a Slovenian thrash metal band, formed in 2000. The group is signed to Metal Blade Records and has released two albums, the last one in 2010.
Negligence was founded by Jan Svigelj and Domen Justin in 2000, with the latter considered the originator of the group. The two hardly met when Domen gave Jan a demo tape of demo songs and soon after, they formed what was initially thought of as a side-project to Domen's primary band Dusk Delight. The group became fully operational the same year when Mitja Lipicer and Ziga Zmazek joined the band, and at about that time, the band officially undertook the name Negligence. The band struggled to find a vocalist for a long time and even performed as an instrumental outfit for several shows before eventually taking Lenz into the band in 2003. The same year, Domen ultimately quit Dusk Delight to fully focus on Negligence, after he had already recorded guitars for their debut album Stories.
Negligence released two demos between 2003 and 2005 with Lenz on vocals and started to tour extensively across Slovenia. The tour also included Negligence opening for the first edition of the Metal Camp festival held in Tolmin, thus being the first band to ever perform there. However, the band's line-up did not last long and after growing increasingly unhappy with the unmelodious vocal approach of Lenz, the group decided to part ways with the singer and replaced him with back then 15-year-old Alex Skofljanec, who coincidentally also left his band called Metalsteel in 2005.
In 2007, they released their debut album Options of a Trapped Mind which was met with positive reviews and was voted top thrash metal album of 2007 by internet fanzine Thrashzone. The band once again went on tour and supported many well known Thrash Metal acts such as Exodus, Forbidden, Sadus, Heathen, Death Angel, etc.
At the end of 2009, after the recording of their second album took place, Negligence privately parted ways with one of the founding members of the group Domen Justin, and soon found his replacement in Aljosa Orlovic of Scaffold fame. In 2010 the band announced their signing with American Thrash Metal label Pioneers Metal Blade Records and in October same year released their sophomore album entitled Coordinates Of Confusion.
