Negaunee Township is a civil township of Marquette County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,707 at the 2000 census. The City of Negaunee is located at the southwest corner of the township, but is administratively autonomous.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 43.7 square miles (113.1 km²), of which 42.0 square miles (108.9 km²) is land and 1.6 square miles (4.1 km²) (3.67%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,707 people, 1,031 households, and 795 families residing in the township. The population density was 64.4 per square mile (24.9/km²). There were 1,259 housing units at an average density of 29.9 per square mile (11.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.56% White, 0.07% African American, 0.92% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.48% of the population.
There were 1,031 households out of which 34.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.7% were married couples living together, 6.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.8% were non-families. 19.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.02.
