Nee Varuvai Ena is a 1999 Tamil language film directed by Rajakumaran starring Parthiban and Devayani in lead roles, with Ajith Kumar in a guest appearance. Ramesh Khanna, Vijayakumar and Sathyapriya also play important roles. The film opened in August 1999 to positive reviews and performed well commercially.
Ganesh (Parthiban), the product of Mudaliar-Gounder intercaste marriage, loses several prospective brides due to this and spends his time dreaming of marriage. On a busride to Chengalpattu to take up a promotion as bank manager, he is involved in an accident. The scene shifts to three months later when he finally shows up at Chengalpattu. Nandini (Devayani), living in the house opposite his, showers affection on him, giving him coffee, providing him with hot water, etc. But when Ganesh with his parents, visits her to talk about marriage, she rejects him. Revealing the real reason behind her attachment to Ganesh, she tells him of her ill-fated love affair with army officer Subramani (Ajith). Subramani's eyes has been donated to Ganesh which made her to fall in love with his eyes. Eager to send him on his way, Nandini sends a letter in Ganesh's name to Ganesh's home, accepting the latest girl they picked for him and Ganesh returns home to find arrangements for his wedding in full swing. Coincidentally, the girl turns out to be someone (Suvalakshmi) he had dreamed of marrying during his pre-Nandini days.ganesh who loves nandhini stops the marriage at the last minute and goes back to his village his friend (ramesh kanna) sees this oppurtunity And marrries super suvalakshmi and talks like he does this for his friend. On the village home nandhini asks ganesh about marriage he instead of saying he couldn't forget her, talks lengthy useless stupid dialoges and in the end neither of them get married lives happy life by seeing each other and the director narrates that thisi
The film marked the directorial debut of Rajakumaran who earlier assisted director Vikraman.
