Natta Company is a folk theatre troupe from Bengal established in 1869.
Barisal of Bangladesh in nineteen century Baikuntha Natta & Shashi Bhusan Natta jointly came in the entertainment industry. That was name as "Natta Company" Jatra Dal. Natta Company Jatra Dal Inspired from "Macharang Sangit Samaj" and the "Shashi Vhusan Sangit Samaj". Local people called the Natta Company Jatra Dal which became very popular as "Natta Company Jatra Party". As time passed the name of "Natta Company" became a well known name in Bengal's folk theater and then in stage theater. In the early years the Party used to perform in different Zamindar's (landlord's) palaces. As time passed on they started to perform in different villages, towns and also in cities like East Bengal and West Bengal.
Baikuntha Natta was entrepreneur of "Machrang Boikuntha Sangit Samaj". It was established in 1869 at small village "Machrang" Banaripara of Barisal in East Bengal (Bangladesh). On the other hand, shashi Vushan Natta was entrepreneur and owner of "Shashi Vhusan Natta Sangit Samaj" at pangiputhi para; Jhalakati Barisal East Bengal (Bangladesh).Both of sangit samaj was under in Natta family. Baikuntha Natta and Shashi Vusan Natta was maternal and heartiest relationship each other as of uncle and nephew. Both was very much legendary and talented in Bengali literature as well as classical music and instrumental music. Personally Shashi Vhusan Natta was talented in instrumental music especially he was in famous in percussion music like tabla and Boithuki Dholl. Baikuntha Natta was specialist in Taki Dholl. Shashi vhusan Natta create own tradition in table and that was renowned as "Barishal Gharana". On that time both was landlord (Jamidar) in east Bengal site as well same as in west Bengal (Kolkata).
Up to 1955 natta company was run as combined in both family but some unavoidable circumstances and family conflict broke down this relationship. After division of Bengal the east Bengal part responsibilities came on the hands of Shashi Bhusion Natta's descendants Hiralal Natta, Hiron Chandra Natta, and kiron Chandra Natta, and the other part of west Bengal the descendants of Baikuntha Natta as Mathuranath Natta and then Jagendranath Natta and Radhendranath Natta. Both Families had pure music culture. However both of all natta had important role in traditional folk theater and the stage theater.
In the early 1950s, Natta Company started to use handbills for publicity. From the mid-1950s they started to publish their advertisements in the local magazines. As they moved to cities, they started to use the print media effectively for advertisements and promotion. They published their advertisements in different newspapers like – Jugantar, Ananda Bazar Patrika, Dainik Bosumoti, Swadhinata etc. In the early-1970s Natta Company became very popular in Bengal and Eastern Regions of India.
