Natasha Katz


Natasha Katz is a lighting designer for the theatre, dance, and opera.

Born in New York City, Katz was educated at Oberlin College and spent a period as intern to Roger Morgan. Her first Broadway production was as lighting designer for the play Pack of Lies in 1985, and she has gone on to design the lighting for 48 Broadway plays and musicals as well as productions all over the world.

Her wide-ranging credits include her Tony Award winning work on the Broadway productions of The Glass Menagerie (2014), Once (2012), The Coast of Utopia (with Brian MacDevitt and Kenneth Posner) (2007), and Aida (2000) as well as operas and dance with the Royal Opera House, Dutch National Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera. She has also designed extensively Off-Broadway and for American regional theaters. In December 2014, it was revealed her next project would be the Broadway bound musical School of Rock.

Additionally she has designed concert acts for Shirley MacLaine, Ann-Margret and Tommy Tune as well as permanent lighting installations for Niketown (New York City and London) and the Big Bang at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
