Narta Lagoon is one of the biggest lagoons in Albania. It is located in the southern edge of shores ,near Vlora city.There is a general area of 41.8 km2,about 1/3 of which is used for Skoefotina saltwork. This lagoon extends to the SE area of the Vlora Bay and is separated from the Adriatic Sea by a narrow littoral strip consisting of an alluvial dune of about 8 km wide and a width of 100 to 1400 m.It is formed by the constant accumulation of solid flow of the Vjosa River.
Narta Lagoon is named after the village of Nartë, which is found on the lagoon's southern shores.
In the lagoon are two islands. The larger one is named Zvërnec Island. A wooden footbridge connects Nartë to the island, where a 13th-century monastery is located.
