Nalini was born in Tamil family, is an Indian film actress known for her works in Tamil cinema, Malayalam cinema, including few in Kannada cinema, Telugu cinema, and television.

Nalini married Ramarajan in 1987. The couple have twins Aruna and Arun born in 1988. However, they divorced citing differences in 2000. Her Daughter Aruna married Ramesh Subramanian on 6 May 2013. Her Son Arun married Pavithra on 25 April 2014.
