Akkineni Nagarjuna (born 29 August 1959) is an Indian film actor, producer and television presenter who works primarily in Telugu cinema and television. He has acted in over ninety films as an actor in a lead. He has also had supporting and cameo roles, including Bollywood and Tamil films. He has received nine state Nandi Awards, three Filmfare Awards South and a National Film Award-Special Mention. In 1996 he produced, Ninne Pelladata, which has garnered the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu for that year.
Known for his works in biographical films, He essayed 15th-century composer Annamacharya in the 1997 film Annamayya; as Yavakri (the son of the ascetic Bharadwaja) in the 2002 film Agni Varsha; as Major Padmapani Acharya in the 2003 war film LOC Kargil; as 17th-century composer Kancherla Gopanna in the 2006 film Sri Ramadasu; as Suddala Hanmanthu, in the 2011 film Rajanna; as Sai Baba of Shirdi in the 2012 film Shirdi Sai; as Chandala in the 2013 film Jagadguru Adi Sankara, and as Hathiram Bhavaji in the 2017 film Om Namo Venkatesaya.
