Muskurahat (English: Smile) is a 1992 Hindi-language Indian feature film directed by Priyadarshan, starring Jay Mehta, Revathi, Amrish Puri, Anil Dhawan, Sharat Saxena, Annu Kapoor and Jagdeep. The film is the remake of Priyadarshan's own Malayalam blockbuster Kilukkam starring Mohanlal and Revathi.
Muskurahat is a romantic comedy, featuring Jay Mehta, Revathi and Amrish Puri.
Gopichand Verma is a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Pritam is close to him as he is the son of his late friend. Pritam works as a guide. His selfish friend is Annu Kapoor. One day Nandini lands in Ooty and Pritam befriends her and becomes her guide, but later he finds out that Nandini is mad, so he has to take care of her as he has no other option was left. Later it is revealed that Nandini is not mad and arrived in Ooty in search of her father. She believes that Gopichand Verma is her father. Will Nandini find her father? What happens to Pritam? All these questions are revealed in the climax.
This is the first Hindi film of Priyadarshan. He chose Kilukkam, the biggest blockbuster of Malayalam films, which collected Rs.3 crores gross in 1991, to be remade for his Hindi debut. Bollywood expected a lot from Priyadarshan as he already delivered numerous hits in Malayalam and Tamil film industry. Unfortunately Muskurahat became the biggest commercial disaster for Priyadarshan at the box-office.
