Mount Vernon is a census-designated place (CDP) in Somerset County, Maryland, United States. The population was 761 at the 2000 census. It is included in the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Mount Vernon is located at 38°14′58″N 75°47′51″W / 38.24944°N 75.79750°W / 38.24944; -75.79750 (38.249456, -75.797422).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 15.9 square miles (41 km2), of which, 13.1 square miles (34 km2) of it is land and 2.8 square miles (7.3 km2) of it (17.59%) is water.
