Mount Madia-as


Mount Madia-as (also Madja-as or Madya-as) is the highest peak on Panay Island, Philippines. Its summit is 2,117 metres (6,946 ft) above sea level. In Kinaray-a, the name means "high" or "lofty". It is located in the town of Culasi in Antique Province. According to the legend as told by the local folks, it is home for a deity named Bulalakaw (meaning "meteor") who serves as the guardian of the mountain. Mt. Madia-as has been part of Antiqueño's culture, history and literature. It has a total of 14 waterfalls that supports all of the rivers in Antique and neighboring provinces. One can see some of the biggest waterfalls like white strands in the surface of the mountain.
