Mount Heemskirk


Mount Heemskirk is a mountain close to the coast of Western Tasmania. It has an elevation of 2,365 ft (721m) above sea level.

Mount Heemskirk was the first sighted feature on the island of Tasmania by Abel Tasman on 24 November 1642.

The mountain and its surrounding high ground was also known as the Heemskirk mining area in the 1890s and early 1900s (decade)

The closest town is Zeehan, about 14 kilometres (9 mi) away.
