Montreux Palace


The Montreux Palace (Fairmont Le Montreux Palace) is a luxury hotel located at Avenue Claude-Nobs 2, 1820 Montreux, Switzerland. It opened in 1906 and is located on the shores of Lake Léman. The hotel is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World.

In 1936, the Montreux Convention Regarding the Regime of the Straits was signed in the hotel. More recently, the Montreux Palace hosted heads of state, delegations and meetings during the summit of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (2010) and the Geneva II Middle East peace conference (2013). It was the permanent home of Vladimir Nabokov and his wife from 1961 to his death in 1977.
