Montagne Jeunesse is a beauty-product business based in Baglan Energy Park, South Wales, UK and sold in 82 countries worldwide and listed in over 1000 international retail chains across all of the major global retailers. The business has been built around a range of natural beauty products with face masques being their main product, along with foot, bath, hair and body products in single-use sachets.
Established in 1985 by vegetarian Gregory Butcher, Montagne Jeunesse's aim is to create products which make a minimum impact on all forms of life at every stage. To this end, the company manufacture toiletry products that are completely vegetarian and are approved by the Vegetarian Society and the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV).
Montagne Jeunesse is a founding member of the Cosmetic Industry Coalition for Animal Welfare (CICAW) and will not use any raw materials tested on animals and as a global company, it has a Human Rights and Ethical Trading Policy.
Since the inception of the company, the management philosophy has always been one of protecting the environment and the company ethos is the ‘Conservation of Energy, Protection of Animals and the Environment’ is adopted by all. Montagne Jeunesse aims to become 100% renewable energy self-sufficient and currently holds ISO14001 EMS accreditation and this ensures that all employees consider the impact of everything they do to ensure the environmental impact is minimised wherever it is technically feasible, and demonstrates the company philosophy beyond any doubt. For example, all paper used in the office is shredded and used for protecting the fragile goods in transit. Montagne Jeunesse has also been awarded the ‘Wales Environment Award for companies less than 50 employees’ in 2001.
Montagne Jeunesse has been located on the Baglan Energy Park site since November 2005, marketing and distributing cosmetic products such as face masks.
The company has had a Welsh presence since 1988. The production of the face packs takes place across the UK with the site at Baglan Energy Park responsible for the distribution of the packs, exporting the products over 80 countries worldwide. As well as distribution, the self-contained business unit at the park also houses production, IT, logistics, sales and marketing and general office functions, all under one roof.
