Mokarram Hussain Khundker was a professor at the Department of Chemistry of University of Dhaka.
Khundker completed his Ph.D. from the University of Durham in England and returned to East Bengal in early 1948. He joined the department as Reader in Chemistry in the same year. He was appointed Professor of Chemistry in 1960. His contributions to various fields of chemistry included modification of cellulose and jute, electrochemistry, metal sulphides, non-metallic sulphur compounds, inorganic borates, organo-boron compounds, mineral processing, and analytical chemistry. He continued to be the Head of the Department of Chemistry until his death on 30 November 1972.
Khundker was awarded the Pakistan Academy of Sciences Gold Medal for research in the Physical Sciences. The Government of Bangladesh posthumously bestowed him with the Independence Day Award, the highest civilian award in the country, in 1977.
University of Dhaka holds a memorial lecture every year named as Khundker Memorial Lecture in Khundker's memory. The university also hosts a research chair in memory of him.
