The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Burmese: နိုင်ငံခြားရေး ဝန်ကြီးဌာန, [nàɪɴŋàɴdʑájé wʊ̀ɴdʑí tʰàna̰], 'MOFA') is a ministry in the government of Myanmar responsible for the country's foreign policy and relations with other nations. It also operates embassies and consulates in 44 countries. It is headed by Aung San Suu Kyi, first female Foreign Minister of Myanmar, who replaced Wunna Maung Lwin on 30 March 2016.
The Ministry was founded as Department of Foreign Affairs on 17 March 1947, and was led by General Aung San. In 1948, it was named Foreign Office. On 25 May 1967, it was organized as Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
