Michael John "Mike" Vanderjagt (; born March 24, 1970) is a former Pro Bowl American football and Canadian football placekicker and punter who played for 9 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Indianapolis Colts (1998-2005) and the Dallas Cowboys (2006.) Prior to his NFL career, Vanderjagt also played for 4 seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL.)
He retired as the most accurate field goal kicker in CFL and NFL history of all kickers with at least 100 field goal attempts (230 of 266, 86.5% as of January 2010, since surpassed by Dan Bailey and Stephen Gostkowski). He is also known, however, for some high-profile missed field goal attempts in postseason games.
Vanderjagt attended White Oaks Secondary School, where he was a four sport athlete (football, basketball, track and soccer). In 1988, he accepted a scholarship from Michigan State University as a quarterback and placekicker. However, he left Michigan State for Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California, where he took over placekicking duties from exiting freshman Jack Garvin (who left for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)).
