Midland Valley High School (MVHS) is a four-year high school located in Graniteville, South Carolina. It is part of the Aiken County Public School District and is home of the Mustangs.
Midland Valley was founded in 1980 as the merger of two other schools, Langley Bath Clearwater (LBC) and Leavelle McCampbell. Those schools became middle schools. The school celebrated its first graduating class in 1981.
The mascot is a Mustang (horse). Midland Valley is currently the highest rated high school in Aiken County, receiving a B for two consecutive years on the state report card.
MVHS competes in several interscholastic sports. They share a region in SCHSL Class 4A Upper State with North Augusta, Aiken, South Aiken, and Airport.
Students participate in a variety of clubs and organizations.
The Midland Valley band, The Pride of the Valley, has attended the SCBDA Lower State Championships every year since 1989 and moved forward to the State Championships several times. The band is currently under the direction of Kaitlyn Myers with assistants Zachary Derr and Derrick Parker.
In 2015 the Pride of the Valley attended the 6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade in a combined band with the Silver Bluff High School Silver Spirit marching band.
MVHS was affected by a train accident in downtown Graniteville on January 6, 2005. The school was closed until January 19, 2005 as a result of the subsequent chemical spill.
