Michael A. Montesano (born October 16, 1954) is an American politician who is a member of the New York State Assembly serving the 15th Assembly District.
Montesano was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Gravesend, Brooklyn. He attended Saints Simon & Jude Elementary School. He graduated from William E. Grady High School in 1973, after which he worked for the Staten Island Rapid Transit Authority. He became at dispatcher/EMT with the New York City Emergency Medical Service in 1974, and was eventually promoted to supervising EMT. Montesano moved to Glen Head, New York, in 1979. He became a police officer in the New York City Police Department in 1981, and was later promoted to detective.
Montesano received an A.A.S. degree in Police Science from Nassau County Community College in 1983, followed by a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from St. John's University. In 1989 he earned his law degree (J.D.) from the City University of New York School of Law at Queens College and was admitted to the New York State Bar Association.
Montesano started his own private practice law firm in 1990. He has served as Acting Village Justice and a Village Prosecutor for Roslyn Harbor. He has also been President of the North Shore School District Board of Education, and adjunct professor at the New York Institute of Technology.
